In 1893, during the era of the “English Garden”, Prince Leopold zu Salm-Salm built a copy of the Lake Lucerne Region, complete with a Swiss chalet and a rocky landscape as a reminder of his honeymoon. The stones and wood were brought here from Switzerland by boats and horse-drawn wagons. On the occasion of its 100th anniversary, the English Garden, which is under monument protection, was expanded into a 56 hectare wildlife park biotope. You will find extensive large aviaries and biotopes on 6 km of well-maintained dirt roads through typical landscape examples and biotopes for this region.
